My Photo Albums
Due to the high demand to see my photo albums (mainly from people who are in some
of the pictures :)), I have decided to create this page in order to keep track
of what's been published so far, since before this the only way you could get
to know about photo albums was by reading my blog. A little bit too late, and the
article would have probably already disappeared from the front page. And I have to
admit it, looking through the archives isn't the best option.
Anyway, from now on, you'll find here -as long as I update this page :)- all the photo albums.
The Albums
- 29-07-2003: All what you've heard about Spain is true. We are all
latin lovers, girls out
dressed as flamenco dancers and boys
dress like "toreros" (bull fighters).
This is how people normally look like in the disco.
Surprised? I know you wouldn't! I have always tried to hide my true nature and deny the Spanish stereotype, but finally I was
convinced that it is not possible! And now, you also have the proofs. (Actually, some people have too much free time on their hands :))
- 26-07-2003: Cala Morisca & Sitges.
We started the night in Barcelona but after countless turns and an awful road, we ended up 25km away in a place lost
in the middle of nowehere:
Cala Morisca. It is a house with a huge garden right next to the sea turned into a fashionable disco. The night was
warm and beautiful and the place was in a superb location. It was Friday so they closed at 3 o'clock. We were close to the
town so we headed to Sitges
to go for a walk next to the sea. Aaaah, how romaaaantic... :D
- 19-07-2003: Bob Sinclar in Discothèque,
Barcelona. One of the best French djs was coming to one of the hottest and most fashionable places in the city, so we
decided that we had to be there. Plenty of sweaty people, mainly foreigners but good house music after all :)
- 16-07-2003: Manresa, my home town. These are
some pictures of my home town, taken from a hill that has a park on top, in the middle of the city. You can see
from there the mountain that I
snapped in the album below, or have an idea of how the
the city center looks like. Enjoy :)
- 13-07-2003: Montserrat. Montserrat
is a mountain next to my home town. There is a legend about the virgin Mary appearing to some shepherds many many
years ago so they decided to build a monastery on the top to worship her (and God) Nowadays it is full of
tourists and souvenir shops everywhere. You can buy mugs with the picture of the virgin Mary, pictures,
photo frames, plates, and sooooo on. Like a supermarket :P To go up you can take a
special train that climbs up
the mountain following a special
kind of track.. Once you're on the top, you can either go and visit the virgin inside the
monastery and enjoy the views, or
alternatively you can take another kind
of train and reach the highest part of the mountain to admire even
even nicer views.
- 12-07-2003: Some party at
L'Atlàntida, one of the best discos in Catalonia, known for its crazy parties
and its
beautiful location next to the beach (they actually have their own beach) Expect to see
here many pictures of my friends... :)
It's also a bit difficult to take pictures of dark places
in the night with a camera. I had to play with the shutter speed, the sensitivity of the
film and so on but still some of the pictures are quite all right. Enjoy :)
- 11-07-2003: Going out with
my friends in my home town. First something to eat, then
something to drink and finally we ended
up in the only disco
we have in this f*cking town. It's digusting, full of posh-wannabe and
latino show-offs, but hey, if you drink and can't drive... it's actually the only place where you
can go. And since the music sucks, the only thing you can do there is drink ;)
- 10-07-2003: Montmeló, the Spanish
Formula-1 track. A friend of mine had access to some privileged areas of the track with a better
view... All the big teams were trainig there:
Williams, McLaren,
Renault,
Ferrari, etc.
It is sooooooo impressive!!!!
- 29-06-2003: Afternoon in
Pihlajasaari, a little nice island about 15 minutes by boat from Helsinki. Before getting to the
harbor, we went through the Eira area, one of the most elegant places of Helsinki. Oh, and we also
came accross a sea fisihing competition...
look at the salmons!!! :) The island is very beautiful, full of nature and plenty of nice
spots next to the sea.
- 27-06-2003: Bike tour
around Helsinki. I was bored at home and the weather was gorgeous, so I decided to jump on
my bike and go for a ride. I took the way down to downtown following
Arabianranta, ended up in
Hakaniemi and then headed to Lauttasaari first through
Senaatintori, then through
the lively Kauppatori (market square) and finally,
Eira. Lauttasaari is a residential island on the west side of Helsinki, quite expensive. But it
is still full of nice places to sit and enjoy the sun next to the sea, such as
here and
here.
- 19-06-2003: Juhannus in
Helsinki, in the island of Seurasaari. Finnish people celebreate the longest night of the year
on the 19th of June. In Helsink it is traditional to go with the whole family to the island of
Seurasaari to see first the traditional dances and shops and later on, the lightning of the
bonfires. While the bonfires and all that stuff was nice, I don't think it is worth the 12¤ they
make you pay to get in. Welcome to Finland...
- 15-06-2003: Suomenlinna.
Suomenlinna means "The Finnish Fortress" in Finnish, and is an island located just in the center
of the main bay in Helsinki, kind of protecting the entrance to the port. Due to its privileged
location, a defensive fortress and
several cannons
were built there to protect the city from the invaders. Nowadays people go there when the weather is good
and simply walk around enjoying the sun.
- 31-05-2003: Water tower
in Roihuvuori I can see this water tower from my place and I've always been impressed by the
way it looks... So one day I decided to go and take some pictures.
- 31-05-2003: Herttoniemenranta. This is
the area where I am going to leave in a few weeks. It's right next to the sea and it even has
its own
beach! ;) The flat where I'm going to leave is about 700m down the road from
these
buildings. It's very nice!!!
- 31-05-2003: Vanhakaupunki and the Vantaa river.
The weather was starting to get better by the end of May so I decided to go and
first visit
Vanha Kaupunki. From there, I moved north following the river
Vantaanjoki (Vantaa river) and got as far as the river meets
the other river (I'd say it's the Keravanjoki but I'm not too sure) Not that spectacular, though ;)
- 23-05-2003: Marjaniemi and
Itäkeskus. From my place in Herttoniemi, I decided to head north-east to Marjaniemi and Rastila. Not that
impressive either. Some
nice spots next to the sea, harbors and
that's about it... On the way back, I took some pictures of
Itäkeskus, one of the biggest shopping centers in Europe. A behemoth, I'd say.
- 22-05-2003: Laajasalo. Laajasalo
it's a peninsula east of my place in Herttoniemi. Plenty of
sea spots and
green parks.
- 03-05-2003: A friend of mine was celebrating
his birthday, so we had to be there with some
other guys :). One of the Spanish guys was giving
dancing lessons for free too! :) (check out the whole sequence of pictures :)) Finally, we moved on
to Tiikeri in
Helsinki to have some party... Not too bad!
- 01-05-2003: Vappu. Finns celebrate
Vappu on the 1st of May. On the eve of the 1st of May, students go out and celebrate their graduation
(or something like that :)) on the street drinking and wearing the traditional students cap, the
ylioppilaslakki. During
the celebration on the 31st, people
basically drink and
enjoy themselves :)
